Big News!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Melissa Bayless to the Firefly family! Melissa comes to us with 20 years of experience in early childhood education and a fierce passion for the community's mission. Melissa spent the last 7 years as a lead teacher and implemented play based curriculum through Project Construct, in her classroom. She also brings with her years of experience using Conscious Discipline - the same discipline structure used at Firefly Community Schools since we first opened in 2018. For these reasons, and so many more, we are thrilled to have Melissa serve as the director at Firefly Community School, Imperial, MO. Melissa has spent this week getting to know the friends. Which means she; tied lots of shoes, looked for all the bugs outside, and listened as the friends shared all the thoughts on their little minds.

Hello Firefly Community,

My name is Melissa Bayless and I'm looking forward to begin my new journey with Firefly Community Schools.  I have been blessed to be in the Early Childhood field for 20 years and have made some incredible memories and experiences.  I live in the Imperial area with my family and I remember seeing the sign for the school and just getting that feeling of being drawn in.  I have completely fallen in love with the vibe of the school and can not wait to be part of Firefly - the story and growth.  I have been married to my husband Chris for 16 years.  Together we have two sons, Gavin who is 14 and Lane who is 9.  As a family we have two dogs and a cat.  We love to go camping when time allows us to, hike, try new restaurants and attend LOTS and LOTS of the boys sporting events.  I'm looking forward to making the Firefly Community School my home away from home.  I vow to treat your children like I would want my own children loved and cared for.  I am looking forward to meeting your family!
